Parkly pocketparks in Ylä-Malmin market square is a placemaking project in the Malmi neighbourhood. The green pop-up spaces commissioned by the City of Helsinki act as an intervention to study the place dynamics, collaborate with stakeholders and increase participation and interaction though different activities. Building on the 2021 project with Forum Virium Helsinki at the same location, Malmi placemaking project part of the process of building a placemaking model of the City of Helsinki. Reflecting and communicating the new plans for the square, the main themes of the intervention are urban nature, children’s city and market life.
